Research on Crime and Public Safety in 2023

This research explores public attitudes related to crime and potential policy solutions to improve public safety.

Over the past three years, crime and public safety have lingered as important concerns for voters. This survey by the Center for American Progress explores voters’ current perceptions on crime in the United States and potential solutions to improve public safety in communities through accountability and prevention.

The positions of American Progress, and our policy experts, are independent, and the findings and conclusions presented are those of American Progress alone. A full list of supporters is available here. American Progress would like to acknowledge the many generous supporters who make our work possible.
