For Gay Workers, Job Security Supersedes Pay Equity

Extraordinarily high rates of employment discrimination based on their sexual orientation and gender identity could also factor into the wage gap for LGBT employees.

It’s not only women and people of color who receive unequal pay for equal work. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers also suffer from a wage penalty that leaves them with less take-home pay to support themselves and their families.
