What’s Next for Nevada

Lisette Partelow explains the "What's Next Nevada" coalition, which is focused on addressing the state's teacher shortages and reforming school culture.

Nevada Succeeds recently invited me to be an impartial observer of a coalition they are organizing called “What’s Next Nevada?” I’ll be reporting out exclusively from this initiative over the coming months as it unfolds.

The first meeting of “What’s Next Nevada” began with 60 adults crying. But not about education. Well, not exactly.

The opening speaker for “What’s Next Nevada?” had, as a child, been severely burned and was given less than 1 percent chance of surviving through the first night. He gave a moving speech about how he grew up to become a college graduate, business owner, philanthropist, husband and father of four children.
