CAP Ideas 2019: Stacey Abrams on Amplifying Voices and Votes

Stacey Abrams spoke at the 2019 CAP Ideas Conference, sharing her three solutions to combat voter suppression efforts and amplify new voices.

Part of a Series

This year at the 2019 CAP Ideas Conference, former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams (D) shared her three solutions to combat voter suppression efforts and amplify new voices—especially those who have been historically excluded—so that the United States can progress toward a democracy that is truly representative of all of its people. Abrams urged Americans to fight for progress through litigation that combats regressive laws and expands voting rights; legislation such as H.R. 1 that offers historic democracy and voting reforms; and advocacy that centers communities of color and the disadvantaged to bring new voices to the table to change the country’s trajectory.

The positions of American Progress, and our policy experts, are independent, and the findings and conclusions presented are those of American Progress alone. American Progress would like to acknowledge the many generous supporters who make our work possible.
