STATEMENT: SEIU Reaffiliation with the AFL-CIO Shows the Labor Movement is Ready to Meet the Moment, Says CAP’s Patrick Gaspard 

Washington, D.C. — Today, the SEIU and the AFL-CIO announced that the SEIU will reaffiliate with the AFL-CIO. Following the announcement, Patrick Gaspard, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

When workers speak with one voice, they have more power to take on corporations and politicians who pretend to care about working people but, at the end of the day, don’t have their backs. This announcement is a giant step forward in building worker power and shows that the labor movement is ready to meet the moment.
