STATEMENT: Manchin’s Legacy Is a Loss for Humanity, CAP’s John Podesta Says

Washington, D.C. — After Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) told Senate leaders on Thursday that he would not support legislation that includes investments to combat climate change, John Podesta, founder and chair of the board of directors at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

It seems odd that Sen. Manchin would choose as his legacy to be the one man who single-handedly doomed humanity. But we can’t throw in the towel on the planet. Now, it’s more important than ever that President Joe Biden use all his authority to fiercely fight for the future.
