Washington, D.C. — Neera Tanden, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement after the deadly terrorist attack on Jewish people at Bondi Beach in Australia:
The horrifying attack at Bondi Beach shows that the growing rise of antisemitism threatens the lives of Jews around the world. Today’s incident follows the attack on a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur, the murder of a Jewish couple outside the Capital Jewish Museum, arson at the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion on Passover, and a stabbing outside of the Holocaust museum in Berlin last winter, along with many incidents that didn’t make headlines. Antisemitism in all its forms is reprehensible and must be stamped out. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of the people who were murdered today. May their memories be a blessing.
