Tackling Climate Change and Environmental Injustice
Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. Treasury Department and IRS issued final rules on prevailing wages and registered apprenticeship programs as they pertain to the clean energy tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act. In response, Mike Williams, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:
The Treasury Department is helping the Inflation Reduction Act live up to its intention to deliver good jobs while fighting the climate crisis and providing good value for the public. These rules incorporate innovative thinking by encouraging the usage of project labor agreements, lifting up best practices for employers, and placing more power into the hands of workers and community members to ensure strong enforcement.
