STATEMENT: CAP’s Matt Lee-Ashley on Secretary Jewell’s Energy Reform Speech
Washington, D.C. — In response to Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell’s speech today on the Obama administration’s energy reform agenda, Center for American Progress Senior Fellow Matt Lee-Ashley made the following statement:
Secretary Jewell is absolutely right that in order for the United States to win the long game on energy, conservation, and climate, the Obama administration must continue to lead the way with common-sense reforms to outdated energy policies. Secretary Jewell raised fundamental and on-point questions about the federal coal program and how the U.S. Department of the Interior can help cut carbon pollution. How we answer these questions will help shape our ability to build a cleaner and more secure energy future.
