Washington, D.C. — Today, the Center for American Progress released a new tool to track cuts to grants and federal real estate leases made by the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The interactive website enables users to track these cuts by congressional district, city, state, and government agency or program. While there has been extensive reporting on DOGE’s cuts to government contracts, less work has been done to track the administration’s cuts to grants and leases.
Using DOGE’s website, CAP’s DOGE tracker provides users with federal government data and information related to cuts in particular geographies and programs and appends relevant press coverage attributable to particular cuts. Stakeholders can also use the tracker to identify where DOGE’s cuts are causing acute harms to Americans and institutions providing vital health care, education, and other social services. The tracker will also serve as a clearinghouse to give and receive detailed information about the impact of these cuts.
“This new tracker will make it easier for elected officials and the media to tell the story of DOGE’s immeasurable harms caused by cuts to grants and federal leases,” said Will Ragland, vice president of research for advocacy and outreach at the Center for American Progress. “While it is impossible to understand the full scope of these cuts, this tracker will serve as an iterative resource to crowdsource information from stakeholders as the impact of these cuts are more fully realized nationwide.”
