Washington, D.C. — Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) will join Center for American Progress Vice President for Guns and Crime Policy Chelsea Parsons and Chief Scott Knight, the former chair of the International Chiefs of Police Firearms Committee tomorrow for a press conference call at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time on the use of state executive actions to prevent gun violence.
Last week, Gov. Malloy used his executive power to keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists. Known as the terror gap, Gov. Malloy closed a dangerous loophole in the law that would have allowed for those on the FBI’s terrorist watch list to purchase guns in his state without requiring new legislation.
