Washington, D.C. — Since taking office, the Trump administration has targeted LGBTQI+ communities and their most fundamental rights. The administration has censored information and erased LGBTQI+ people from government websites and rescinded funding for LGBTQI+ programs and research. President Trump has also directed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to produce government-sponsored misinformation. In light of these dramatic attacks on the federal data ecosystem, continuing data collection by private researchers and organizations remains a critical strategy to fight back.
Join the Center for American Progress for a presentation of new data from the 2024 CAP LGBTQI+ Community Survey and a panel discussion with experts about the threats facing LGBTQI+ Americans. The event will highlight the urgent need for evidence-based policymaking, featuring opening remarks from Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA). A light breakfast will be provided.
