EVENT ADVISORY: Rally at Supreme Court to Protect Our Rights from Trump’s Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement marks the potential for a dramatic shift to the right for the Supreme Court. A replacement nominated by President Donald Trump could push the court to overturn Roe v. Wade and move our country back decades when it comes to civil rights, LGBTQ rights, workers’ rights, voting rights, and more.

Please join members of Congress, the Center for American Progress, CAP Action Fund, Planned Parenthood, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, MoveOn.org, Generation Progress, Demand Justice, Alliance for Justice, and others in front of the Supreme Court starting at 10AM ET Thursday for a rally to #SaveSCOTUS.

We will tell Trump that we will follow Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s rule to the T and not accept a nominee considered during an election year after 2016’s unprecedented obstruction of Judge Merrick Garland’s nomination to the high court. Moreover, we will not accept a single nominee from Trump’s previous list of potential nominees, written as a sop to extreme special interests. Trump’s shortlist of possible Supreme Court nominees does not have a single fair-minded constitutionalist who values equality and justice for all on it.
