CAP’s Neera Tanden Condemns Shooting of National Guard Troops

Washington, D.C. — After reports that a gunman shot two members of the National Guard stationed near the White House, Neera Tanden, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

It is heartbreaking and infuriating that members of the National Guard were shot near the White House. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society, and we must condemn it unequivocally. My thoughts are with the service members, their family members, and all Americans outraged by this senseless violence.
