Washington, D.C. — With President Barack Obama expected to announce executive actions to strengthen gun violence protections this week, Center for American Progress Gun Policy experts will be available for comment and background conversations. It is anticipated that among other gun policy actions, the president will clarify which individuals are considered to be “engaged in the business” of dealing in firearms and are therefore required to become licensed gun dealers and conduct background checks for all gun sales. CAP released an issue brief in October on strengthening background checks for high-volume gun sellers.
