ADVISORY: On International Women’s Day, CAP to Host Ambassador-at-Large Birx for Discussion on Strategies for Women’s Economic Empowerment

Washington, D.C. — The Center for American Progress will host Ambassador-at-Large Deborah L. Birx and a high-level panel for a discussion on how to “[a]chieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.” This is one of the Sustainable Development Goals, and while many recent analyses highlight the potential benefits of women’s economic empowerment—including greater economic growth and improved health and education outcomes for future generations—substantial legal, cultural, and social barriers remain. This event will focus on strategies and solutions to overcome these barriers.
