ADVISORY: A New Approach to the Retirement Crisis

Washington, D.C. — The United States faces a retirement crisis. Millions of hardworking Americans are at risk of having to make substantial and painful cuts in their spending when they retire, and it is abundantly clear that the current approach to saving for retirement is not working for many families. In their new book, Rescuing Retirement: A Plan To Guarantee Retirement Security for All Americans, Teresa Ghilarducci and Tony James seek to address the United States’ retirement crisis. The book suggests a new path toward substantially enhancing retirement security for working families.

On Tuesday, February 6, at noon, the Center for American Progress will host Ghilarducci and James for a discussion of their book, their ideas on universal contributions, changes to tax credits, and guaranteed retirement income. A book signing with the authors will follow the discussion.
