Ocean Governance in a New Administration

Center for American Progress
2:30 - 3:45 PM EST

Millions of jobs and billions of dollars’ worth of commercial and recreational activity—including tourism, shipping, fishing, and offshore energy—depend on a healthy and well-managed ocean and coast. In an era of warming, rising, and acidifying seas, sustainably growing this blue economy will require effective and adaptive ocean governance.

The 45th president of the United States and the 115th U.S. Congress will inherit a unique governance structure built to balance the needs of ocean industries as well as the priorities of state, local, federal, and tribal governments. Our new leaders have an opportunity to enhance these developments in ocean governance and ensure the long-term health of marine ecosystems.

Please join the Center for American Progress and distinguished experts from government and the private sector for a discussion on the next chapter in U.S. ocean policy.
