Fixing Our Broken Courts

Join CAP and the Brennan Center for Justice a discussion on opportunities for structural reform of the Supreme Court and the courts more generally.

12:00 - 1:00 PM EDT

Our courts are in crisis. As highlighted by a recent Center for American Progress report, the true ambitions of an extreme, activist majority on the U.S. Supreme Court have come into sharp clarity: rolling back long-held rights and protections that most Americans take for granted. Because of the court’s recent actions, millions of women will lose access to abortion. States will have fewer tools to reign in gun violence. Our very ability to breathe clean air and combat the growing destruction of extreme weather is in danger. With these and other risks to their lives now clear, Americans are asking loudly what can be done to fight back against this radical Supreme Court majority.

Please join the Center for American Progress for a timely virtual discussion on opportunities for structural reform of the Supreme Court and the courts more generally with two esteemed members of the President’s Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States.

Patrick Gaspard, President and Chief Executive Officer, Center for American Progress

Panelists:
Sherrilyn Ifill, Professor of Law and former President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund
Michael Waldman, President, Brennan Center for Justice
