As federal support for climate and clean energy policy recedes, states and localities are increasingly driving the next phase of climate action. During D.C. Climate Week, this event hosted by the Center for American Progress will examine how leaders across the DMV are advancing policies that are delivering tangible benefits now while positioning their communities for a more resilient and affordable future.
The conversation will focus on what is working and what comes next. Where are climate and clean energy efforts improving daily life for residents, whether through lower costs, healthier and more resilient communities, or expanded access to reliable infrastructure and services? How are leaders translating policy into real-world results, and where are there still gaps to close?
Grounded in the experiences of leaders working at different levels of government and across regional systems, the panel will highlight how climate action is being implemented on the ground and what it takes to sustain progress in a more constrained federal environment. It will also look ahead to the decisions that will shape the next phase of climate action and how lessons from the DMV can inform efforts across the country.
A networking lunch will follow the discussion for in-person guests.
