Americans Strongly Back Continued Access to Early Abortion Medication

American voters overwhelmingly want to keep the constitutional right to abortion in Roe v. Wade and strongly support legal access to early abortion medication for all women.

Results of a comprehensive new opinion poll of 2,000 registered voters show that Americans by a 57 percent to 33 percent margin support allowing women to legally use prescription early abortion medication to end a pregnancy at home. This includes support from 68 percent of Democrats, 59 percent of Independents, and 42 percent of Republicans.

The survey was conducted online with a sample of 2,000 registered voters from May 17–22, 2022. The Center for American Progress and GBAO Strategies designed and fielded the research.

Top-line results can be found here and a memo outlining the major findings here.
