Shane Bateman

Shane Bateman is the chief financial officer at American Progress, where he oversees all aspects of finance and budgeting. He brings extensive experience in financial systems design and operational strategy across both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Prior to joining American Progress, Bateman served as the founding CFO of Murmuration, where he built the organization’s finance function from the ground up. His work focuses on optimizing financial operations, advancing civic engagement through technology, and driving cross-functional process improvement. Shane is a certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
