Bans on medication abortion worsen health care access and outcomes.

Although medication abortion is proven to be safe and effective, far-right extremists aim to undermine the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone and remove it as a health care option. Texas doctors such as Andrea Contreras are seeing firsthand how abortion bans delay care for people presenting with life–threatening pregnancy complications. Restricting access to mifepristone would further affect patients already facing extreme barriers because of preexisting bans on abortion.
