ONLINE EVENT ADVISORY: A Look Back on the Biden Administration’s First Year on Religious Liberty

Washington, D.C. — Slightly more than one year ago—on his very first day in office—President Joe Biden rescinded the Muslim ban, a consequential step that set the tone for the administration’s approach to religious liberty. Since then, the Biden administration has taken a number of other steps to protect religious liberty by addressing Trump-era regulations that undermined religious liberty, seeking to protect religious communities from white supremacist violence, protecting sacred lands for Indigenous communities, advancing the rights of religious communities under threat around the world, and more.

Please join the Center for American Progress for a discussion of the Biden administration’s efforts to protect the rights and safety of religious minorities and the nonreligious here and around the world, and to safeguard the nation’s separation of church and state. Newly confirmed U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain will offer a keynote address at the start of the event, followed by a panel of experts who will also offer recommendations regarding further steps the administration can take to protect religious liberty over the next three years.
