ADVISORY: Delivering Accountability: Stopping Crime in Our Communities
Press Advisory

Washington, D.C. — Ensuring the safety and security of the public is government’s most fundamental responsibility. We know how to lower crime even further—with proven strategies that are working in communities across the country. The issues of crime and public safety should not be weaponized; rather, we should actually address crime with strategies that truly solve the problem.

Please join the Center for American Progress for a discussion on stopping crime with Mayors Craig Greenberg (D-Louisville), Daniel Lurie (D-San Francisco), and Brandon Scott (D-Baltimore), as well as Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman. All four are successfully driving down crime rates in their cities. The panel will be moderated by CAP President and CEO Neera Tanden, a co-author of CAP’s new crime prevention agenda: “Delivering Accountability: A Plan To Stop Crime in Our Communities.”

The conversation will discuss how policymakers can implement strategies proven to work on the ground, including hiring more detectives and police officers, investing in evidence-based community violence intervention strategies, and delivering swift and certain justice.
