Washington, D.C. — The Trump administration’s cruel assaults against immigration and the rule of law have been turbocharged by congressional Republicans’ recently passed reconciliation bill—the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—gifting the administration dramatically increased funding to further weaponize its harmful immigration agenda. In the face of the Trump administration’s brazen abuse of power and defiance of the rule of law, the Center for American Progress has called for Congress to both ensure vigorous oversight of the executive branch and modernize America’s outdated immigration laws to better serve the national interest.
