Today’s announcement restores the intent of the Antiquities Act and the rule of law. By returning permanent protections to these three monuments, President Joe Biden has listened to tribes, scientists, and the American public and preserved irreplaceable cultural, historic, and natural treasures. In the face of a changing climate and a worsening extinction crisis, today’s announcement is critical to restoring protections for these three places.
