Washington, D.C. — In response to President Donald Trump’s planned speech discussing what his administration views as its record of environmental achievement, Senior Vice President for Energy and Environment Policy Christy Goldfuss offered the following statement:
This is a joke, pure and simple. No speech can cover up the Trump administration’s abysmal environmental record featuring more than 150 attacks on our clean air, clean water, safe climate, and cherished public lands. President Trump’s environmental policies have been handcrafted by lobbyists for polluters and chemical companies, more than 25 of whom run the agencies or departments charged with protecting the environment. Instead, they’re exacerbating our climate crisis and forcing millions of Americans to pay out of pocket to recover from West Coast wildfires, record floods in the Midwest, and toxic algae currently choking the Gulf Coast. No one will be fooled by this attempt to erase the Trump administration’s assault on the environment over the past two years.
