STATEMENT: Congress Must Hold Saudi Arabia Accountable, CAP’s Kelly Magsamen Says

Washington, D.C. — As Congress considers measures responding to Saudi Arabia’s role in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi and its conduct in the Yemen civil war, Kelly Magsamen, vice president for National Security and International Policy at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

In the days and weeks ahead, the U.S. Congress will have an opportunity to take concrete steps to fully end U.S. military support to the Saudi-led war in Yemen and to hold the government of Saudi Arabia accountable for the murder of U.S. resident Jamal Khashoggi. While the Trump administration continues avoiding meaningful action, Congress must now step up to do what it can to end the humanitarian suffering in Yemen and to provide real consequences for the murder of Khashoggi.
