STATEMENT: CAP President and CEO Neera Tanden on the Signing of the Paris Climate Agreement

Washington, D.C. — Center for American Progress President and CEO Neera Tanden issued the following statement after the official signing of the Paris climate agreement at the United Nations today.

Today, the United States joins more than 170 countries from around the world to take another step toward meeting the climate change challenge by signing the Paris climate agreement. This agreement embodies the vision and promise of a clean energy, climate-resilient future for our planet, and reaching it has been one of the most important achievements of the Obama administration. But the fight is far from over, as record-breaking temperatures in March starkly reminded us. Governments, the private sector, civil society—we all must redouble our efforts if we are to make a reality what was committed to both domestically and internationally in Paris. This agreement points the way.
