Statement: CAP’s Carmel Martin on the Establishment of the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument

Washington, D.C. — Today, Center for American Progress Executive Vice President for Policy Carmel Martin made the following statement about President Barack Obama’s establishment of the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument in Washington, D.C.

By honoring Cesar Chavez, the Buffalo Soldiers, the Pullman porters, and now America’s women’s equality movement, President Obama is taking giant steps toward building a national park system that reflects all of our history, culture, and communities. In this centennial year for our national parks, the president is building a bold and inclusive conservation legacy for our children and grandchildren.
