STATEMENT: CAP’s Greg Dotson on Court Ruling to Deny the Stay Request for the Clean Power Plan

Washington, D.C. — Center for American Progress Vice President for Energy Policy Greg Dotson issued the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled to deny the stay request on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan:

This is a major win for the Clean Power Plan and the United States’ ability to deliver critical pollution reductions and help avoid the most devastating effects of climate change. CAP is confident that the Clean Power Plan rests on firm legal footing and will ultimately prevail in court, and today’s decision sends the clear signal that states and all stakeholders need to prepare to implement this popular plan to achieve a cleaner future.
