Washington, D.C. — Center for American Progress President Neera Tanden issued the following statement on the appointment of Andy Slavitt as the new administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS. Slavitt is currently acting administrator for CMS, which oversees Medicaid, Medicare, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the health insurance marketplace.
Andy Slavitt’s depth of expertise, leadership, and innovation has made him a leader in the health care field for years. Throughout his career, Andy’s keen interest has been helping the health care industry better serve consumers.
