Washington, D.C. — President Barack Obama, joined by Attorney General Eric Holder, will today release a plan to deter Wall Street speculators from unlawfully taking advantage of oil price volatility. Daniel J. Weiss, Senior Fellow and Director of Climate Strategy at the Center for American Progress, released the following statement:
President Obama’s proposal will make it harder for Wall Street speculators to drive up oil prices. This is a "Law and Order" plan to give prosecutors more tools to investigate any oil market manipulation and more cops to protect consumers.
