RELEASE: CAP Women’s Initiative Unveils an Expansive Policy Vision to Move Women and Families Forward

Washington, D.C. — Today, the Women’s Initiative at the Center for American Progress released a new interactive outlining more than 125 bold ideas to support women and their families. Among other topics, the interactive focuses on connecting the dots on policies addressing what women say they want and need, including better economic security, good health care, fair treatment, and workplace structures that can help them better navigate dual roles as workers and caregivers. The holistic policy agenda is specifically designed to address the particularly acute challenges faced by working women across the country, including women of color, LGBTQ women, immigrant women, women with disabilities, and women in rural America.

“Nearly 2 in 3 women serve as their family’s co- or primary breadwinner, which is why ensuring their ability to thrive both at home and in the workplace is essential,” said Shilpa Phadke, vice president of the Women’s Initiative at the Center for American Progress. “The bold ideas outlined in this report lay out a sweeping, affirmative vision for going on offense on supporting women’s empowerment and rights. The agenda stands in stark contrast to President Trump’s history of undercutting women and failure to advance meaningful solutions to some of the biggest problems we face.”
