STATEMENT: CAP’s Jake Faleschini Urges Senate to Reject Inexperienced, Unqualified Allison Rushing

Washington, D.C. — As the Senate prepares to vote on the nomination of Allison Rushing for a seat on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Jake Faleschini, director of the Federal Courts Program at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

If experience is a key factor in becoming a federal appeals court judge, Allison Rushing is absurdly unqualified for this post. She’s barely 11 years out of law school and has only practiced law for eight of those years—none in North Carolina. She has worked for and continued to support Alliance Defending Freedom, which the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies as a hate group. Her confirmation hearing was held during a Senate recess, making a mockery of the Senate’s advice and consent role. Rushing is a narrow-minded ideologue and her nomination should be rejected.
