Washington, D.C. — This week, the Center for American Progress announced that Daniella Gibbs Léger has been promoted to executive vice president for Communications and Strategy, joining the executive leadership of the organization.
“Communicating our ideas and helping shape the debate has always been a critical part of the work we do, and Daniella has been an integral part of this team for years,” said Neera Tanden, CAP president and CEO. “I am thrilled to have Daniella join the senior-most leadership of CAP, and I look forward to her continued leadership as we continue to expand and grow our communications team.”
Prior to rejoining CAP in 2011, Léger served as a special assistant to the president and director of message events in the Obama administration, where she was responsible for helping plan and execute the president’s official domestic events. Before joining the White House in January 2009, Léger was the vice president for CAP. Léger has also been the deputy director of communications at the Democratic National Committee (DNC). While at the DNC, she also served as a regional media director, deputy press secretary, and the communications director for the Women’s Vote Center. Prior to that, Léger spent two years at the National Newspaper Publishers Association as their marketing associate and political liaison. Léger also worked at Sony Music in New York City for three years before moving to Washington, D.C.
In addition, Allison Preiss, who previously served as managing director, has been promoted to vice president for Communications.
