Washington, D.C. — The Center for American Progress announced today that Christy Goldfuss, former managing director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, or CEQ, has rejoined CAP as the Center’s new Vice President for Energy and Environment Policy. As managing director, Goldfuss helped develop and implement the Obama administration’s environmental and energy policies, including the Climate Action Plan, President Barack Obama’s major initiative to combat climate change.
“From her time with the National Park Service to her leadership at CEQ, Goldfuss has shown the kind of dedication and determination needed to overcome the biggest obstacles facing the conservation and preservation of America’s natural resources and the global effort to combat climate change,” said Carmel Martin, CAP Executive Vice President for Policy. “During her first tenure at CAP, she successfully created and directed the Public Lands Project. Since then, she has contributed to finding climate solutions. We are excited to see the kind of impact she will have on all of CAP’s energy and environment work.”
Prior to her work at CEQ, Goldfuss was the deputy director of the National Park Service, where she helped lead efforts to set and meet strategic goals related to conservation and preservation of America’s natural and cultural heritage. She also created and directed the Public Lands Project at CAP and worked on the legislative staff for the House Committee on Natural Resources.
