Washington, DC–Today, the Center for American Progress announced that Thomas P. Glynn, Ph.D. has joined the Center for American Progress (CAP) as a Senior Fellow. As a Senior Fellow, Glynn will focus his considerable expertise on payment reform issues, among other health care policy topics.
Glynn has been the Chief Operating Officer at Partners HealthCare, a network of hospitals and physicians, since 1996 where he is responsible for oversight of finance, information systems, human resources, real estate, development, marketing, and community benefits.
“The next stages of health reform implementation are as important as passage of the bill itself, as the promises of the legislation are realized,” said John Podesta, President and CEO of the Center for American Progress. “CAP remains focused on the broad array of issues that will help make health care implementation a success and we are excited that Tom Glynn, as Senior Fellow, will help CAP in its efforts to ensure implementation’s promises are met – delivering higher quality care at lower cost, and covering tens of millions more Americans.”
Previously, Glynn served in the Clinton Administration as Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of Labor, as Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration at Brown University, as General Manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and as Deputy Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare. Mr. Glynn is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Heller School at Brandeis University and a Brandeis Trustee. He serves as a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. He also serves on the boards of the Pine Street Inn and the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health.
Mr. Glynn has a BA in Economics from Tufts University and a PhD from Brandeis’ Heller School.
