Washington, D.c= (January 19, 2005) – On Tuesday, January 18, the Center for American Progress will officially open the doors of its new in-house radio studio. Located in the heart of the District, the studio was built to encourage radio talk show hosts to visit Washington and grant them access to the leading thinkers in the progressive community.
“The right had done an excellent job at providing resources and infrastructure for talk radio—especially conservative radio hosts,” said John Podesta, President and CEO for the Center for American Progress, “As talk radio emerges as one of the primary sources of information for Americans, the center felt it was important to counter the efforts of the right, and to create a level playing field in talk radio. We hope our new studio and radio outreach program will provide a new resource for the progressive radio world.”
Leading progressive talk radio host Ed Schultz (www.wegoted.com), will be the first to broadcast his syndicated show live from the studio on Tuesday. He also will broadcast his show again on Wednesday. Stephanie Miller (www.stephaniemiller.com) will broadcast live from the center’s facility during the week. Both shows are syndicated by Jones Radio Networks (www.jonesradio.com).
Air America (www.airamericaradio.com) will also be in Washington for the Inauguration. Al Franken will broadcast his show live from the studio on Wednesday.
