ONLINE EVENT ADVISORY: The Workforce Behind the Workforce—Child Care Providers in the Coronavirus Pandemic

Washington, D.C. — The coronavirus pandemic is having an enormous impact on every aspect of society, including the child care sector, which faces a potentially permanent loss of nearly half its pre-COVID capacity. While other industries have received large bailouts to ensure they survive the pandemic, child care has yet to see the major investments needed to stabilize the industry during the crisis and in the reopening and recovery period to come.

Please join the Center for American Progress and the National Association for the Education of Young Children for an online event to hear from child care providers on the front lines. During this event, they will share how the coronavirus pandemic has affected their lives and the lives of the children and families they serve. From caring for children of essential workers to applying for small business loans, their experiences provide a guide for policymakers to ensure that early childhood educators can continue to drive the economy forward as the workforce behind the workforce that they have always been.

If you have questions for the panel before the start of the event, please submit them via email to [email protected] or on Twitter using the hashtag #SaveChildCare.
