EVENT ADVISORY: Advancing Good Governance in a Time of Crisis: U.S.-Japan Support for Universal Values in Asia

Washington, D.C. — From the crackdown on protesters in Hong Kong, to Myanmar’s brutal campaign against the Rohingya, to democratic backsliding in Thailand and the Philippines, to the detention of more than 1 million Uighurs in China, human rights and democracy in Asia are under attack. Please join the Center for American Progress for a conversation with leading experts on how the U.S.-Japan alliance could play a key role in upholding human rights and democracy in the region.
