Washington, D.C. — The Higher Education Act (HEA), the main federal law on higher education, has not been updated in 10 years. As Congress begins to engage in serious discussions about rewriting the HEA, the Center for American Progress will host an event featuring Sen. Patty Murray (D) of Washington, the ranking member of the Senate committee working on the legislation, about her vision and principles for reauthorizing the Higher Education Act. Following Sen. Murray’s remarks, an expert panel will discuss key issues of higher education reform and challenges moving forward.
