EVENT ADVISORY: Screening of ‘Death by Delivery’ and Panel Discussion
Press Advisory

Washington, D.C. — On April 18, 2018, the Center for American Progress’ Reel Progress program and the Black Mamas Matter Alliance are partnering for a screening of “Death by Delivery,” a documentary that explores the dramatic racial disparities in maternal mortality rates in the United States.

Women of color in the United States experience disproportionately high maternal mortality rates and are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women. “Death by Delivery” explores the inextricable role structural racism has played in spurring this crisis.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Breana Lipscomb, Aza Nedhari, and Linda Goler Blount. The conversation will be moderated by CAP Senior Fellow Dr. Jamila Taylor.
