Miami — The Southeast Florida Regional Climate Action Plan (RCAP) is aimed at reducing the region’s contribution to climate change pollution and building resilient communities in the area—including Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties and their municipalities. With the plan due for renewal this year, it will be critical to include in RCAP 2.0 actionable policy ideas to reduce the vulnerability of under-resourced communities to the effects of climate change. As a step towards this effort, on Saturday, June 10, the Center for American Progress, in partnership with The CLEO Institute and Catalyst Miami, will convene the South Florida Climate Change Equity Solutions Summit at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in downtown Miami.
At the summit, engaged residents and community leaders will gather to hear speakers and take part in a facilitated working session to identify and prioritize the most impactful solutions to climate change effects. Through the lens of equity and justice, participants will discuss specific policy solutions that government leaders can integrate into RCAP 2.0 and South Florida communities can rally behind for the next four years.
