Washington, D.C. — On Thursday, October 22, the Center for American Progress, along with the National Partnership for Women & Families and Parenting Journey, will host the Washington, D.C., premiere and a panel discussion for the new public television documentary series “The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation.”
The evening event is part of CAP’s Reel Progress film series and will feature the first episode of “The Raising of America,” which addresses the important questions that policymakers, legislators, and voters are asking: Why are so many children in America faring so poorly? How does the state of children in America affect the nation’s future? How might we, as a nation, do better? These questions are timely as Congress gears up for budget and tax conversations that could affect investments in children and families and presidential candidates begin to lay out their plans on poverty and inequality.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion focusing on the issues of paid family and medical leave, quality and affordable child care, paid sick days, tax credits for working families, and higher wages, as well as an opportunity for an audience question-and answer session.
