Washington, D.C.—Unmarried women are vital economic contributors to our nation but they have fewer financial resources and greater economic challenges than single men or married couples, according to a new report from the Center for American Progress and Women’s Voices Women Vote. "The Other Half: Unmarried Women, Economic Well-Being, and the Great Recession" details the disparities unmarried women face in income, wealth, debt, poverty, unemployment, and more. These challenges are especially acute in communities of color where women are more likely to be unmarried.
