Dave Chandrasekaran is the vice president of Advocacy and Campaigns at American Progress. His two-decade career in policy and advocacy has focused on heath care, gender-based violence, voting rights, and other social justice areas. Prior to joining American Progress, Chandrasekaran was an independent consultant supporting movement-building nonprofit organizations advancing equity for marginalized communities. He most recently founded the Voter Empowerment Project, which provides pro bono technical assistance to small, high-impact organizations engaging voters in historically disenfranchised communities. Chandrasekaran also served in policy and management roles at the DC Primary Care Association, the Government of the District of Columbia, and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Chandrasekaran started his career as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow at Health Care For All in Massachusetts.

Chandrasekaran is also very involved in local and national community service, frequently mobilizing volunteers in support of voter registration and turnout efforts; serving on the board of several Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organizations; volunteering as a certified application counselor to enroll uninsured Virginia families into Affordable Care Act marketplace coverage; serving on the Advisory Board of DC Health Link; and advising various candidates for local and national office.

Chandrasekaran received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Brown University.
