Sophia Brown-Heidenreich is the research assistant for Europe with the National Security and International Policy team at the Center for American Progress. Prior to joining CAP, she worked in transatlantic relations as an intern with the Atlantic Council and the Hudson Institute. She earned a degree in history from the University of California, Berkeley. Her thesis focused the idea of great power in American history and how public discourse surrounding the status changed over the course of the 19th and 20th centuries. In her free time, she can be found running or biking, whether in the streets of Washington, D.C., or back home in Berlin.
