Hauwa Ahmed is a research associate for Democracy and Government at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, she interned for the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on behalf of Ranking Member Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO). Prior to that, she interned in the Obama White House Office of Presidential Correspondence. Ahmed got her start interning for her member of Congress, former Rep. Donna F. Edwards (D-MD). Ahmed earned her bachelor’s degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
